Red Legged Hermit crabs are very hardy and require minimal care in a well-established system.
These small hermit crabs have a voracious appetite for detritus and algae. They are particularly fond of nuisance algae of the filamentous, hair, and slime varieties, as well as cyanobacteria. Unlike some hermit crabs, most Red Legged Hermit Crabs are very peaceful towards their tankmates.
Like other hermit crabs, an ample supply of empty shells should be available for the Red and Blue Legged Hermit Crab to move into as they molt and grow.
As with all invertebrates, they do not tolerate copper-based medications and extreme fluctuations in water parameters.
The Blue Leg Hermit Crab has blue legs with red banding. The bright color and active personality make this hermit crab a wonderful addition to an aquarium. They are scavengers and excellent algae eaters.
In addition to their colorful appearance, they are low maintenance hermit crabs that are very hardy and require little care.
The Blue Leg Hermit Crabs will eat fish or shrimp food leftovers, fish wastes, leftover meaty food, dried seaweed, dead plants, many types of macroalgae including green hair algae and cyanobacteria and will sift the substrate for foodstuff.
